My Five Favorite #Charlottesville Shops for Hostess Gifts

When it comes to hostess gifts, there are two kinds of people. There are the people who have a nice cache of hostess gifts ready for holiday parties and open houses and there are the people who are stopping at the supermarket on their way to a party for an already-chilled bottle of wine and over-priced wine gift bag.  Because this is one of those blessed years where all my shopping is done and I actually have a few gifts waiting for those holiday get-togethers, I'm going to share where I think you should go to create your own little cache of hostess gifts.

This is NOT a gift roundup. The number of gift roundups out there is dizzying right now and I don't find them helpful because they always show online options and there are always vague descriptions that make you click through an affiliate link to figure out what the item is. This is a concise list of places to go. They have cute things and attentive staff that will help you. After I made my list, I realized that they are all easy to get in and out of quickly, with parking in front or across the street. This is so you do not spend $6 on a wine bag and bottle of wine you've never tried on your way to a party.

1. Pour la Maison

It's no secret that I love Pour la Maison. I talk about this beautiful shop all the time on Instagram and I do embroidery work on the gorgeous linens sold there. That aside, there are great gift items at a range of price points (oh my, does that sound too blogerly?).

My picks: a pair of towels, a decorative dish, or a One Creative Cookie kit

2. Folly

It's hard to believe Folly hasn't always been here. The shop quickly became the go-to shop for beautiful furniture, art, and home decorations. Their selection of small gifts is fantastic...just be prepared to want to pick up a few things for yourself when you visit!

My picks: oversized notepads with an initial or zip code on them, a bottle opener, or twig-shaped candles

3. Roxie Daisy

I love stopping by Roxie Daisy right after they decorate the store for the holidays. Aside from the charming decorative objects, they have some beautiful ornaments for sale in the shop!

My picks: lavender soap or hand cream, a modern teacup with some tea, or a Christmas ornament

4. Artful Lodger

While Artful Lodger is best known for carrying great furniture at both their downtown mall and Belmont locations, both stores have a great selection of small gifts.

My picks: Votivo candle, a votive holder, or a small vase

5. Feast

If you love giving food for hostess gifts, Feast is the spot. Just seeing one of their bags will let your hosts know you've brought them something delicious.

My picks: Half bottle of Thibaut-Janisson sparkling wine, fancy s'mores supplies, or a bottle of olive oil
