Shop Tour: The Kellogg Collection in McLean, Virginia

The staff at the Kellogg Collection locations I frequent (Richmond and McLean) are fantastic. They have found a perfectly attentive style of service that makes stopping into their stores delightful. They let you browse, but make sure you know they are there to dig up more options or answer questions as needed.

I recently had just a few minutes between appointments and decided to check in on the McLean, VA location to see their beautiful vignettes and new items.

I have so many rooms that are far from being ready for use that when they ask "are you looking for anything special today?" that my answer could really be "I need everything." For some reason, I decided that my search for a front hall chest or console could happen along with the search for a little side table to go next to the reading chair in our bedroom. The reading chair that still hasn't been upholstered. Ugh. So many items are on the "to do" list!

Anyway, here are some pictures from my visit, which admittedly was a quickly one.

There's still a lot of coral in home stores right now and since I'm using some coral in my house, I see so many things I want. But I have to draw the line between want and need at this point. I don't need those beautiful pillows or a that awesome rug.

I posted this next image on Instagram and people went nuts for it. Symmetry, neutrals, some animal print, and that wallpaper all combine to make a really pleasant space, don't you think?

I was peeking into the front window (it's a separate room with a little access doorway) and a saleswoman came up behind me and encouraged me to climb in. Don't mind if I do!

The coffee table below is kind of related to the one I have. I wonder if the two seating areas in my living room will mean two coffee tables?

Blue is back. Did blue every go away? I did at my house. I am KICKING myself for selling my entire pottery collection. What was I thinking? Oh yes, I was thinking that I lived in a 785 square foot condo and didn't have room to store anything.

Looking back, my first round of decorating in the condo was closer to my style today than my second round was. I hate that I don't have better photos, but I had collected about ten pieces of blue and white, Chinoiserie style pottery back then. I had them on top of an armoire (back before TVs were flat) and the armoire was flanked by leopard-print benches. All sold. *tears*
