Paint Opinions Needed! Silver Crest vs. Healing Aloe

Remember my trip to bedding wonderland, Valerianne? The bedding boutique in Vienna, VA is where I finally found the inspiration for the color scheme in our master bedroom. After an hour of playing with loads of sample books and swatches, manager Trish and I created a palette.

I took home a few swatches to see them in our bedroom and found the very pale, aqua linens even more lovely. The master bedroom doesn't have a ton of natural light, so the hope was that the fabric would look great in natural and artificial light.

The first task to get this room going is to paint. I spent the day prepping and priming yesterday and hope to paint the ceiling today. That means I need to make a final decision about wall color by tomorrow afternoon (my Benjamin Moore dealer isn't open on Sunday).

Benjamin Moore is so good with grays, blues, and greens. I love all the options in their paint fans decks. On the flip side, all the gorgeous options sometimes make it hard to make a decision. Eventually, I narrowed the choices down to two: Silver Crest and Healing Aloe. Someone put a little graphic together to show those and a few of the other options that are close. Interestingly, one of the colors, Quiet Moments, was in our old bathroom and hallway.

I always like seeing how designers or other bloggers have used the colors I'm considering. Here's how designer Elizabeth Elsey used both colors in her home, which was featured in Atlanta Homes Magazine back in 2011.

First, here's Silver Crest in her softly-lit bedroom:

Second, here's Healing Aloe in her light-filled living room:

Obviously, one has a touch more blue and the other is slightly more green. They both look great with the fabric.

I'll probably have to buy samples to put on the wall, but I'm curious about your opinions.

  2. healing aloe for sure for me. for one. as you know the marscapone was appealing with name. for two, its seems a more complex color for me somehow. not sure how to describe,,, kind of like how the shenandoah taupe looked in my bedroom.

  3. I like the Silver Crest in the room pictures, but the Healing Aloe when the chips are against your fabric. Tough decision!

  4. Love them both...I would probably go with the silver crest as I think it is a tad bit brighter. I am having the same issue with my MBR in terms of it not getting much natural light, but you are much farther along in the decorating process then I am. I can't even decide on a color scheme! Your selections for your bedroom are beautiful!

  5. Healing aloe is what I want to paint our master, so I obviously love it :) but I also think it looks best next to your beautiful fabric swatches.

  7. We have Healing Aloe in our bathroom and it's the perfect green/gray. You won't regret it if you use it.

  8. Hi have you decided on the bed for your bedroom? I am considering same options as you and very confused right now. Your opinion may help. Thanks.

  9. I vote for Silver Crest. I would be afraid that Healing Aloe would get "muddy" in low or artificial light but samples are the best way to be sure.

  10. Funny, the conflicting advice here. To my eye it is Healing Aloe without a doubt. I will be interested to see what you decide on in your room, in your light.
