Waldo Canyon Fire in Colorado Springs

National news has covered this briefly, but the town of Colorado Springs, CO has been devastated by a massive wild fire, called the Waldo Canyon Fire. I can't fathom what it must feel like to be in the position of the residents there, but this picture gave me a hint. So sad.

  1. Heartbreaking.  There's a fire in California right now that isn't fading.  Those poor people!

This is less than an hour south of me and the skies are thick with gray smoke. Over 32,000 people have been displaced in two days. As of this moment, there is no containment.

Yesterday afternoon, lightning (from a storm that produced less the 1/10th inch of rain) sparked a forest fire near Boulder, 30 miles north of here. The south side of that city is in pre-evacuation mode.

We have a 10-day forecast of highs over 95 degrees. It's unholy.
