Preservation Peidmont Home Tour

It's time to make some plans to visit Charlottesville!

On Saturday, October 9th, there's going to be a pretty spectacular home tour here in Charlottesville. The tour is being organized by Preservation Piedmont, a group that aims to preserve historic buildings, sites, and neighborhoods around the region. The October tour will nine homes in the residential area just north of the Downtown Mall (where many of the wonderful stores I've profiled are located). Many of the homes have never been open to visitors in this way before.

One home in particular might look familiar to you if you read Design Sponge or Apartment Therapy. It's the home of Gillian, who writes Dried Figs and Wooden Spools. Here's Gillian's kitchen when it was on Design Sponge and here's a post on Apartment Therapy about her locker pantry.

On Sunday, October 10th, there will be a second tour of a different neighborhood called Fry's Spring. This neighborhood has an eclectic mix of houses and four will be open for tours. Tours end with a reception at the Fry's Spring Beach Club.

do you know what we need to do to participate?

  2. Let me email my contact and ask about that. I also went looking for tickets...there have to be tickets, right?

  3. Hi- There are tickets! They can be purchased through Preservation Peidmont's website:

Also, beginning this week, they will be for sale at New Dominion Bookshop on the downtown mall and Greenberry's at Barrack's Road.
