There are plenty of projects on my to do list, but part of me wants to make a big change. Not a big, costly change, mind you (I'm saving up for counter tops), but a big, cheap change. Perhaps it's time to paint?
A few months ago, when bloggers started showing red accents in blue rooms, I was intrigued. I wasn't quite ready to have one of these rooms myself, but I thought the look was fresh, but potentially classic.

Painting the bedroom might be just the change I need. Of course, that would mean all rooms in my condo, with the exception of the bathroom, would be blue. I'd probably paint the little hallway between the common areas, bedroom, and bathroom white to break of the sea of blue.
What do you think? Should I do it? Or, should I keep working on those to do list items? I have three walk in closets that should be painted...but doing the bedroom sure would be more fun!

Paaaaaaaint it blue!!!
ReplyDeleteAs of this fall, every room in my condo (except for our bedroom) will be some shade of blue. I can't help it.
Just go for it!! It's only paint! And.... please... post pics!
ReplyDeleteif you're itching to do it, i say do it!
ReplyDeletei don't know how well the curtains will go with it but why not not experiment? i'd replace the red accent pillows on your bed with black ones (is that a horrible idea?) if you change the walls to blue.
ohm and this reminds me, turquoise is Pantone's color of the year. Have you honored this blue in any of your designs?
I think with your floors and furniture it would look fantastic! I say go for it!!
ReplyDeletePaint! I love blue and red together.
ReplyDeleteOur bedroom is painted Blue Bauble by Duron. If you're interested, see comment by Urban Nest here for the details as it appears to have changed in Duron's system.

It has a very muted turquoise tone to it that I just love. I also have red accents in the room!
I disagree. I think the bedroom is absolutely gorgeous as it is - it's my favorite room in your condo. I think it would look too trendy if done up in blue. Just my opinion though!
ReplyDeleteI say blue - that first shot is one of my all-time favorite Domino (RIP) photos.
ReplyDeleteI love your room the way it is too! I love how warm it feels, so I'm not sure what blue would do to it. I understand the urge though, so if you really want to see how it turns out go for it! You can always paint it back!
ReplyDeleteI think it would be fun, but I worry you'd have to change your accessories. What if you strike a deal with yourself - as soon as you paint one of your closets, then painting the bedroom is the reward? :)
ReplyDeleteI love your bedroom as is. Working on closets, and improving their capacity (if not already done) will add to your home's marketability.
ReplyDeleteSince it summer, how about sharing an update of the containers you planted a while back?
A light blue with a tad of green, the lightest of teal blues, and red is my favorite color combination, one I've lived with for many, many years and think it'll make your beautiful bedroom even more serene.
ReplyDeleteDO it! I love my aqua blue bedroom, although my accents are orange...anyway, I hope you do it!
ReplyDeleteRemember that great literary work "If you give a mouse a cookie"? It's riveting but educational: one thing leads to another.
ReplyDeleteIt's not just paint. It's paint, drapes, bedding and what else? I'd leave it as is cause it's just beautiful. Plus those other spaces have touches of red whereas you have lots.

I'm in love with that first photo! I posted it on my blog a while back as guest room inspiration (although I took a picture of the hard magazine copy so it doesn't look as nice). Not sure if you read Yellow Brick Home, but they just did their bedroom a really nice calm green-blue with punchy accents. http://www.yellowbrickhome.com/the-bedroom-blahs-resolved/
ReplyDeleteI say why not, it's just paint...but I'd probably put it at the end of your to-do list behind more "needed" projects! That first pic is just so darn cute - love the robin's egg blue color.
