Cville Design House shuttle logistics

I've been trying to do one post about the Cville Design House and one "normal" blog post each day this week, but I feel I must make both of today's posts about the design house. My apologies to my out of town readers for this break from the usual program.

Yesterday, Anne Marie asked about the shuttle to the Cville Design House. Many design houses require visitors to park off site and take a shuttle to the house so neighbors aren't fighting traffic and a lack of parking near their homes. For the Cville Design House, you have to park behind the UVa office building by the pond at the Boar's Head Inn and then take a mini-van shuttle to the house.

There is a volunteer in the lot to greet you so you know where to pick up the shuttle. You should lock any food, drinks, and cameras in your car, since they are not permitted inside the house. The shuttle ride takes about five minutes. I'll be the parking lot greeter on Saturday morning, so maybe I'll see a few of you there!

I made a little map (with Google's help) to show you where to park. UVa and downtown are to the right and Crozet is to the left in this image. You will see signs for the Cville Design House parking on the route.

  1. Even though I can't make it to the Design House, I love how you find something that you are passionate (or at least excited) about supporting, and you become a champion for it :)

  2. I was so sad that there wasn't a design house here for the last four years that when this one came up, I jumped on it. I think they missed the opportunity to promote via blogs (understandable since we only have 2-3 design bloggers in this town). Next year (I hope there's a next year), I hope I can help out again. It's been a lot of fun to see how one of these events comes together...even when you hop on at the end of the ride. :)
