I'm lucky. I'm lucky. I'm lucky.

This post brought to you by the resident of 2D in my complex. When 2D slept through a massive leak in his unit and sent streams of water into my home, he did what most people would do: he left town. The three of us who were affected by 2D's leak were a little surprised he never came by in the days since our places were drenched to say hello. A little "I'm so sorry this happened" would have gone a long way.

The owner of the cleaning company told me that he left the afternoon of the flood. Do you know where he went? Wait for it...FRANCE. He's chilling with his brother, an actor, in France.

Meanwhile, I'm pulling apart the moldings I so happily painted a few weeks ago and peeling up laminate flooring.

Obviously, it could be much worse. The insurance adjuster said he has seen condos without ceilings due to leaks. I'm lucky. That's my mantra as I destroy my warped floors.

I'm lucky. I'm lucky. I'm lucky.

  3. As much as it sucks, you are pretty lucky. When the kids in the building across from mine decided to play ball inside and hit the sprinkler all 3 floors were flooded, they even had to tear out the ceiling of the "parking garage" under the builiding. Serve-Pro was here for weeks. Tons of water damage.

  4. Ugh so frustrating! :( I'm sorry... But maybe it's a blessing in disguise and you can get some beautiful hardwoods out of the deal?!

  5. This stinks. Sounds like you're making the most of it though.

  6. It's all about perspective, right? But all your beautiful newly painted moulding and the clean-up is all I can think of! I hope things are back in order. So sorry, J!

Mind if I share a similar story? My freshman yr in the dorms, I had the last final on the very last day of the semester. There was only a handful of us left in the dorms. I'm at the computer & water starts to drip ONTO the computer. I freaked out, grabbed a towel & threw it over the 'puter, then just stared at the ceiling as the ring of water grew. Moved the 'puter about 1 min. before the whole damn ceiling caved in!

Turns out, the guys above me had flushed a back of um, "herbs" shall we say, down their toilet. They freaked b/c one of their parents arrived early to pick their son up. So they had to get rid of "evidence". They of course all left for winter break soon after. The toilet overflowed & on & on. AWESOME.

(I linked to your fab bathroom tile at the bottom of my backsplash post!)
